So the guy who produces my radio show is a Huge WOSO (Women's Soccer) fan. As a result I've been able to follow the rise in popularity over the past ten years. The crowds in Europe have been massive. The world wide talent level has grown dramatically. The days of US Women dominance are over, although they have a shot at the World Cup this year.

The lionesses have a good chance this year of breaking the US stronghold on the World Cup. It's going to be an amazing tournament

Thanks James. This is fantastic! In my 20s I lived in Hampton, just a few miles from Twicker’s and was a member of our local Rugby club. We had a women’s Team “The Twickenham Tarts!” We were not allowed to play full contact sport (1980s) and certainly were not as popular as the men’s teams. However, it was good fun and there were a few other teams in the area. So we played in and off pitch, giving the guys a run for their money and we certainly sang a lot more harmoniously!

It is great to see our women’s teams doing so well and getting the recognition (if not the money - still more changes needed) that they deserve.

Happy travels, James and thank you for the ‘Girl Power’ support x

Brilliant, must have been a lot of fun back then, especially as even the men officially at least, we amateur.

I will be at Twickenham on 29th April to see the six nations (hopefully grandslam decider) between England and France.

Both my wife and daughter play and it is great to see them enjoy taking part so much
